People of the #FPLCommunity! Are you tired of captain blanks? Then fear not, The Guardians are here to save the day!

Each week we’ll bring you our captain tips for the upcoming games, and hopefully some good laughs!

With only 9 gameweeks left of the FPL season, we have decided to switch things up a bit! From now on we will be bringing you our differential picks for each week, rather than the more obvious captain picks that you can work out by looking at EO and fixtures. This will hopefully help you make decisions that are a bit more outside the box, which can help you fly up the rankings before the season comes to a close!

We are all very excited to see how the players we pick fare this week, and to hear how you, the reader, got on when the week is all done and dusted!

Let’s get to it!

A very solid week for last weeks picks, with 3 out of 4 returning big! Trossard was especially a standout performer that rewarded the ones who went for him with big points for trusting him. Who do we believe can drive you to unrivalled glory? Wait no longer, it’s time for this GWs (possible) heroes.

For each GW we will bring you a captain option from 3 different categories, as shown in the picture below.

That’s all the info done, first captain pick coming right up!

💰Differential Gold: Patrick Bamford (LEE)

While he may not not look like much of a differential with his 48.2% overall ownership, when it comes to captaincy Bamford is usually not that high up in the captain stats when the other highly owned players have good fixtures. It looks like this could be the case this week, with big hitters like Kane and Bruno having decent fixtures. Bamford, however, arguably has an even better fixture than the both of them, and he has been surprisingly prolific this season. Sheffield United have been really bad defensively all year, and this is something we can see BamBam taking advantage of. In addition to that he hasn’t been involved in the international break, so he’ll be rested and ready for the restart. With the creativity of Raphinha and Dallas behind him, and with him being on penalties, we can see him doing very well this GW.

Differential Gold Rating: 7.5/10

🦅Maverick: Stuart Dallas (LEE)

Dallas for captaincy? Yes, you’ve heard it right. Stuart Dallas has been the best £4.5m defender in FPL this season. Playing in midfield more often than not, Dallas always has a huge chance of getting attacking returns.

Dallas has been ever present in Bielsa’s team, starting each of their 29 matches so far this season and playing the full 90 minutes in 28 occasions. Scoring 5 goals, providing 3 assists, keeping 9 clean sheets and accumulating 11 bonus points(FPL) in 29 appearances in the PL this season, Dallas now faces a rock bottom Sheffield United side who are destined to go down this season. Under Wilder, Sheffield United played a unique brand of football which worked out incredibly well last season but this season has gone all wrong for them.

Losing Dean Henderson, who went back to Man Utd after ending his loan spell for the Blades and losing O’Connell due to injury at the start of the season proved to be a huge blow for Sheffield Utd as they fell off a cliff from there and never really recovered. Wilder resigning a couple of weeks ago was another bad news for the Blades as their long successful playing style would now change which won’t help them either.

Leicester demolished the Blades 5-0 last GW. And you could wonder, with Leeds’ attacking playing style, how many can they put past Sheffield Utd who are playing for pride at the moment. So, all these things points towards a big Leeds win tomorrow at Elland Road with a potential of a lot of goals and if you are chasing ranks or chasing your mini league rival and wanting to be a bit different why not go for Stuart Dallas who could keep a CS and get some attacking returns as well. Dallas is our maverick pick this GW.

Maverick Rating: 8/10

 👁Eye Test: Kai Havertz (CHE)

With Chelsea playing West Brom in the lunchtime kick off the first game of the weekend there is sure to be goals if their meeting earlier in the season a thrilling 3-3 draw is anything to go by. A game which the blues were 3-0 down within 27 minutes – something unthinkable under this newly built cohesive controlled well drilled side that has maintained high standards ever since master tactician Thomas Tuchel moved in.

Tuchel has said Werner will start which does cast Kai’s starting berth in doubt considering they have been switching in the international games during the break for Germany respectively.

But two consecutive 90 minutes in the league under his belt suggests Tuchel is keen to find the key and accommodate Kai in his system and with 2 assists in the last home game this suggests he is ready to blossom and evolve the next steps of his career under the guidance of his countryman.

Bagging an assist in the last meeting. Havertz is more than capable against the league’s worst defence – highlighting his talents against Barnsley in the carabao cup earlier in the season with a hat trick and showing flashes of brilliance after coming back from Covid.

It’s made all the more complicated by Chelsea fighting on 3 fronts but he definitely has a window in this game to hit high points – tempting if you have problems in midfield Gw31 and beyond with blanks or dropped players. Kai is capable of proving king and his efforts in his first full season abroad thrown into a very different world has been admirable so in a harsh, critic driven world he shouldn’t be written off just yet.

It’s a risk but with Chelsea’s fixtures including the likes of Palace, Brighton, West Ham, Fulham he could be a worthwhile punt with potential when many team’s fixtures turn.

If you’re not brave enough to risk Kai after possible international break carnage which can disrupt the rhythm of a coach’s methods then an admirable mention to Lucas Moura who has been looking electric and quietly posting some impressive numbers playing further forward under Jose Mourinho despite the club’s struggles recently and a double GW beckons.

Eye Test Rating: 8/10

Final Thoughts

So that’s it! Hopefully these captain options have helped you come to a good decision on who to give the armband to in the upcoming gameweek. We hope they bring you success and a green arrow, and that you enjoyed this article! We’ll see you again next week!
