Gaffr Weekly Review

Player of the Week

Andrew Yiadom – Reading – 18 points vs Sheffield Wednesday

Reading beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 at home in GW35 to record their 3rd win to nil in a row. Yiadom is not a nailed starter for Reading but was an illustration of Reading’s defenders continuing to provide more than just clean sheets as he netted late on. The Royals backline has provided plenty of points in goals, assists and bonus this season particularly from Morrison and Richards.

Team of the Week

Cardiff 91 points vs Derby County.

Cardiff are 11 unbeaten under Mick McCarthy and won this GW34 match 4-0 despite having just 27% possession. Keiffer Moore netted again to make it 7 goals in his last 9 games as Cardiff push for the Play-off places.

Pick of the Week

Ivan Toney – Brentford – 10.5m

GW36 – Blackburn A & GW37 – Derby A

Perhaps the obvious choice but with games against Sheff Weds and Derby over the next week he’s the clear captain choice for me this week. Some weeks you can gamble on Toney not performing but I don’t see that as being one of those weeks. He made an earlier than expected return from injury last week and many managers may be scrambling to get him back in the side ahead of Friday night’s deadline.

Differential of the Week

Illias Chair – QPR – 6.7m

GW36 – Huddersfield H & GW37 Millwall H

2 great home games for the Belgian who has 7 goals and 1 assist this season to go with plenty of bonus points. QPRs upturn in form in recent months sees Chair now in 7th place for midfielders on 146 points but owned by just 4 of the top 25 managers.

Who’s Hot

Who’s Not

Blackburn Rovers – 6 defeats in 9 – Blackburn form stats indicate that in the last 8 matches the team’s points per game value has been averaging 0.50, which is 60.3% lower than their current season’s average.

Huddersfield Town – 1 win in 13 – Huddersfield form stats indicate that in the last 8 matches the team’s points per game value has been averaging 0.75, which is 31.2% lower than their current season’s average.

Upcoming Doubles

GW41Bournemouth, Huddersfield, QPR, Rotherham

Upcoming Blanks

GW38 – Bournemouth, Huddersfield

AOB

Yaya Sanogo’s missed penalty against Cardiff in the last GW takes Bluebird’s keeper Dillion Phillips penalty faced record to 17 faced 8 missed including 7 saves.

After 3 misses in a row for Lucas Joao it looks like Michael Olise is the new Reading penalty taker after he stepped up to score vs Sheffield Weds adding further value to the 5th highest scoring midfielder in the game.
