Gaffr Top Picks for March
In this blog I will be discussing the top picks in Gaffr for March and giving reasons as to why I have selected these players backed up with their latest form, stats and upcoming opponents. There are many great picks out there for this month however I have managed to narrow it down to 7 which includes one goalkeeper, two defenders, two midfielders and two attackers!
Pick number 1: Bradley Collins (GK)
The first player who I recommend is the Barnsley goalkeeper who is currently priced at 4m which looks great value. Barnsley have recorded three clean sheets in their last 6 games and have also won six games in a row now showing great form and pushing for a play off place. Collins has only conceded three goals in his last six showing that Barnsley are a tough nut to crack lately. Barnsley have a double gameweek in gameweek 35 where they face Birmingham and Derby. Birmingham have only scored 26 goals this season and Derby have only scored 25 goals which makes Collins likely to get clean sheet returns in the double. Barnsley also face Wycombe and Sheffield Wednesday in March who again are both low scoring teams. With Barnsley being in great form and having favourable fixtures as well as a double gameweek what is not to like about Collins?
Pick number 2: Conor Roberts (DEF)
Another great pick for March is the very reliable and explosive Conor Roberts of high flying Swansea priced at 7.9m. Roberts has one goal and one assist in his last three games and has an impressive four goals and five assists overall this season for a defender which is brilliant. Furthermore, Roberts has also managed 17 clean sheets in 32 games which is fantastic. In addition, he is the second highest scoring player in the game with 241 points altogether and therefore averaging 7.5 points per game. The Swansea wingback has a double gameweek in gameweek 35 as he faces Middlesbrough and Blackburn. Later on in the month he faces Luton, Bournemouth and Cardiff. However he has proven that he does not need good fixtures as he can provide attacking returns, bonus points and clean sheets against any opponent. In my eyes Roberts is almost essential for March and the rest of the season.
Pick number 3: Scott Malone (DEF)
The second defender I have tipped to score well over the next month is the Millwall wingback Scott Malone who is currently priced at just 5.8m and could offer very good value. Malone has five goals and two assists this season which is pretty good going for a defender and is also playing quite high up the pitch down the left which gives him a good chance of getting attacking returns as well as clean sheet returns. Millwall have kept 13 clean sheets this season which is the fourth best in the championship. Malone also scored in the recent win over Preston. Furthermore, Malone is the fifth highest scoring defender in the game with 177 points in total which makes him a consistent and reliable asset. He faces Blackburn, Derby, QPR and Middlesbrough later on in the month which looks like good fixtures on paper as Blackburn and Middlesbrough are both out of form lately so I would fancy him to return in both of these fixtures.
Pick number 4: Alex Mowatt (MID)
Another player I am confident in for the month of March is the Barnsley midfielder Alex Mowatt. Mowatt registered two assists and one goal in Barnsley’s latest 3-1 win over QPR. In total Mowatt has six goals and six assists this season and is fairly priced at 7.2m. With a double gameweek coming up against Birmingham and Derby he is looking like a great option. Barnsley have won six games in a row now and are unbeaten in 9 games which has pushed them into contention for a play off place. In addition to this they have scored two or more goals in 5 of their last 6 games scoring a total of 12 goals in this time period. Later on in March Barnsley also face Bournemouth, Wycombe and Sheffield Wednesday. Therefore it looks likely that Mowatt and Barnsley will continue their great form. Mowatt has provided both goals and assists over the course of the season which is very decent. I am confident he will be a great pick for the upcoming games!
Pick number 5: Emi Buendia (MID)
Buendia is arguably the most essential pick for this month due to his and Norwich’s form of late and his excellent performances and numbers he has produced this season. Buendia is priced at 10.7m and is worth every penny. The Norwich magician has returned a total of 212 points this season so far making him the highest scoring midfielder this season and the third highest scoring player in the game. He has delivered 10 goals and 10 assists this season after 31 games which is outstanding and makes him a great captain pick every gameweek. Norwich have won 6 games in a row now and look destined to win the league. Buendia has two goals and three assists in his last 5 games which is a brilliant return for a midfielder. Norwich have recorded an xG of 1.89 this season which is the highest in the league and shows how threatening their attack is. Buendia looks like an essential pick for the upcoming games!
Pick number 6: Charlie Austin (FOR)
The first forward I recommend is the experienced QPR striker Charlie Austin who is currency priced nicely at 7.5m. Austin has five goals in 10 games for QPR meaning he is averaging a goal every two games which is a very respectful return. QPR have a double in gameweek 35 against Bristol City and Wycombe. This looks like a great double for Austin as Wycombe have conceded 55 goals which is the most in the league and Bristol City have conceded 46 goals which is the third most in the league. Austin has also scored in his last two games therefore he is in decent form going into some favourable fixtures. Later on in March he also faces Huddersfield, Millwall and Reading which looks like three decent fixtures on paper. Austin has registered an xG score of 0.49 per game which is also a promising sign. Qpr have also scored in six of their last seven games so they are certainly not goal shy of late!
Pick number 7: Kieffer Moore (FOR)
The Cardiff striker has been in great form of late for Cardiff and looks set to continue this form in March. Moore has registered 16 goals so far this season making him the fifth highest scorer in the championship. Even more to the point he has three goals in his last four games. Cardiff face Huddersfield, Watford, Stoke and Cardiff in March. These look like tough games on paper however Moore is in great form lately and as so are Cardiff! Cardiff are unbeaten in their last 10 games in the league which is brilliant. In this time they have also scored 21 goals, as a result they are averaging more than two goals a game in this time period. The Cardiff striker is also on penalties for Cardiff and has an xG of 0.54 per game which is very encouraging. In addition to this Cardiff have produced an xG of 2.4 per game this season which shows the threat that they carry going forward. Due to the form and stats Moore is a very tempting pick for the upcoming games.
